Minister for European Affairs Helen McEntee announces €100,000 available to community and voluntary

  • Funding to support projects aimed at communicating European issues, the role of the EU, and Ireland’s place in Europe
  • Applications for funding will close on Friday 12th April 2019

The Minister for European Affairs Helen McEntee TD, has today invited voluntary organisations, educational bodies and civil society groups to apply for funding under the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Communicating Europe Initiative.

The Minister stated:

“The Communicating Europe Initiative is aimed at deepening public awareness of the role the EU plays in our daily lives. This was one of the key messages that we received from the general public from our Future of Europe Citizen’s Dialogue process held last year. The Irish public wants to understand and have access to quality information on European issues and particularly at a regional and local level.

Projects who are interested in applying for funding under this initiative, should be seeking to communicate European Issues, the role of the European Union and Ireland’s Place in Europe. €100,000 has been made available under the scheme this year.

I am delighted to announce the launch of this funding today.
A key part of my role is to promote and encourage debate around Ireland’s place in a future of Europe that looks beyond Brexit; and how we can continue to build the home we have helped to create for the last 46 years.”

Further information about how to apply are available from my Department’s website http://bit.ly/CommunicatingEurope
The closing date for applications is Friday, 12th April 2019.
