New Ambassadors present Credentials10 October 2013
Their Excellencies, the Ambassadors of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Republic of Albania and New Zealand presented their Letters of Credence to the President at Áras an Uachtaráin.
H.E. Mr. Patrick Engelberg, Ambassador of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, was accompanied by his wife, Christine, and by Ms. Béatrice Kirsch, Deputy Head of Mission.
H.E. Mr. Mal Berisha, Ambassador of the Republic of Albania, was accompanied by his wife, Donika.
H.E. the Rt. Hon. Sir Lockwood Smith, KNZM, Ambassador of New Zealand, was accompanied by his wife, Lady Smith.
Mr. Alex White, T.D., Minister of State at the Department of Health, represented the Government at the ceremony.
The following were also present: Mr. Loughlin Quinn, Deputy Secretary-General to the President; Mr. David Cooney, Secretary-General at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Ms. Orla O’Hanrahan, Chief of Protocol, Mr. Joe Brennan and Ms. Marion O’Donnell, Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
The Ambassadors were escorted to and from Áras an Uachtaráin by an Escort of Honour consisting of a motorcycle detachment drawn from the 2nd Cavalry Squadron, Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, under the command of Lieutenant Cathal Daly.
A Guard of Honour was provided at Áras an Uachtaráin by the 28th Infantry Battalion, Finner Camp, Co. Donegal, under the command of Lieutenant Alan Burke.
Captain Fergal Carroll conducted the Army No. 1 Band.
